UX Bits and Beats
Welcome to your design thinking playlist!
Every beginning needs a little optimism and a bunch of courage!
George Harrison wrote this song after a long winter, and it's about that feeling when something new finally breaks through.
Starting a blog feels a bit like that: stepping into something unfamiliar but hopeful.
Plus, the gentle guitar and building energy feel like the right way to welcome you here! :)
Why "Bits and Beats"?
Bits because I'm keeping these posts short and digestible.
Just one clear idea you can absorb during a coffee break and maybe apply to your work that same day.
Beats because music has always been how I process ideas.
There's something about a song that can capture a feeling or concept in a way that words alone can't. Plus, design work shouldn't be dry or purely academic; it should have rhythm, emotion, and connection.
I've designed solutions that help over 8 million people achieve their financial goals with clarity and confidence.
Along the way, I've learned that the best insights often come from unexpected places: a conversation with someone who's navigating a complex moment, a principle borrowed from architecture or indigenous wisdom, or a song that perfectly captures the feeling of a design problem I'm trying to solve.
That's what this blog is about: short, focused reflections on UX design paired with music that resonates with each topic. Think of it as a playlist for your design thinking.
What You Can Expect
I'll be writing about topics that sit at the intersection of user experience, trust, and human behaviour. You'll find posts about:
Designing for high-stakes moments
Inclusive and accessible design
Cross-disciplinary insights
Collaboration and alignment
Ethics and trust
Interaction patterns
And a bunch of other things related to UX.
Each post will include a song that connects to the topic, whether it's literally or metaphorically. But always genuinely!
I'll try to publish bi-weekly, so there'll always be something new without overwhelming your feed.
And if you have thoughts, disagreements, or your own song recommendations for UX concepts, I'm all ears! I'd love for you to follow along.
Let's create and get inspired by music together!
A Little About Me
I'm an Individual Contributor UX Designer who navigates ambiguity with curiosity and enthusiasm, transforming highly complex problems into intuitive, cohesive, and scalable digital solutions. Research and data are my allies, but I also tap into my intuition and keen ability to listen and observe to uncover hidden patterns.
I have what I call a "rainforest brain"—a million things I'm passionate about and constantly learning. Right now, I'm listening to Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer, which explores indigenous wisdom and the teachings of plants. I'm endlessly curious about how different disciplines and perspectives connect, whether that's through audiobooks on my walks, sketching capybaras (yes, really), or finding design insights in unexpected places.
My approach is simple: dig deep into the problem, detangle complexity, reduce risks early, and build alignment. As the advocate for those who are not in the room, I collaborate with business, tech, and other designers to uncover opportunities and define a clear design vision.
